ESSA Video Competition
Category 2 - Where We Learn
This category aims to encourage entries relating to issues outside of the classroom. For example, entrants might wish to focus on recommending changes to the school building, environmental issues, the relationship between the school and the local community, extended schools, building schools for the future, learning in a community or work-related context, home based learning, links with employers or any subject about the location in which students would like to learn.
If you want some more guidance, have a look at these potential questions
- What would make you want to go to school?
- What would you like your school to look like in the future?
- How would you improve relationships between teachers and students?
- What would you do to make learning more enjoyable?
- What can be done to make people feel safe at school?
- How can schools work more effectively in the local community?
- What would you like to tell employers about education?
- What would make you want to stay on in education longer?
- If you were the headteacher of your school what would you change?
- Design your ideal exam for the future and tell us about it?
- How do you think your education should help prepare you for the world of work?
- What sort of information would you like your school to make available to make good career choices?
- How should big trends such as globalisation and climate change feature in what you learn in school?
More ideas about making your film
"If I could change one thing in education then I would introduce a course,
taught in schools and colleges, teaching young people how to deal with the
issues of tomorrow: economic, environmental, and other issues slowly
affecting us all, like terrorism. It would make young people more
politically aware, and some would go on to become the politicians of
tomorrow."
