Category 4 - Student Voice and Leadership
This category encourages students to consider how schools/colleges can be encouraged to promote democratic and participative practice. Issues might include improving the student council, peer support and training, joint student/teacher leadership teams or descriptions of what mechanisms are working to promote good relationships between all members of the learning community.
If you want some more guidance, have a look at these potential questions
- What would make you want to go to school?
- What would you like your school to look like in the future?
- How would you improve relationships between teachers and students?
- What would you do to make learning more enjoyable?
- What can be done to make people feel safe at school?
- How can schools work more effectively in the local community?
- What would you like to tell employers about education?
- What would make you want to stay on in education longer?
- If you were the headteacher of your school what would you change?
- Design your ideal exam for the future and tell us about it?
- How do you think your education should help prepare you for the world of work?
- What sort of information would you like your school to make available to make good career choices?
- How should big trends such as globalisation and climate change feature in what you learn in school?
More ideas about making your film
"If I could change one thing in education then I would introduce a course,
taught in schools and colleges, teaching young people how to deal with the
issues of tomorrow: economic, environmental, and other issues slowly
affecting us all, like terrorism. It would make young people more
politically aware, and some would go on to become the politicians of
tomorrow."
